John Rego, PhD MA (Princeton), MPhil (Oxford)

John Rego commenced piano lessons at the age of four. He received a scholarship while still in primary school to study with Prof. Yefim Stesin (formerly of the Piano Faculty at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire). After being awarded his primary degree with highest distinction, he traveled to New York for a period of intensive and advanced performance studies at the Juilliard School of Music. Following this he received a scholarship to study at Oxford University. During this time of post-graduate research he also worked with several academics from both Oxford and Cambridge Universities on aesthetics, philosophy, and music. After living in Kraków and London and other parts of Europe, he took up a fellowship at Princeton University and completed a major study on Russian pianism. He has concertized extensively on four continents as both a pianist and conductor, and has also been an invited speaker at several international conferences and lectured at various renowned universities.
